Seven years after planning efforts began, a world-class garden designed by famed landscape architect Piet Oudolf on Belle Isle Park is finished.The final plantings — all-native perennials, grasses and shrubs — were put in at the Oudolf Garden Detroit on Belle Isle this month, filling in meadows that visitors will be able to cross via a new boardwalk.

Pollinator Week, BioBlitz at Oudolf Garden – Grosse Pointe News

Oudolf Garden Detroit Receives Erb Family Foundation Grant

The Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation granted $160,000 to Friends of the Oudolf Garden to install an ADA-compliant boardwalk to improve visitors’ access to and experience of Oudolf Garden Detroit’s Meadows by Lake Tacoma on Belle Isle, which is being restored with native plants.

The boardwalk will be in the East Meadow, and is currently in the Design and Permitting stage.
